۲۱ شهریور به مناسبت صدمین سال ورود سینما به ایران در تقویم ثبت شد، اما این روز با تاریخ ورود نخستین دوربین، نخستین فیلمبرداری یا نخستین نمایش عمومی فیلم مطابقت ندارد و انتخاب آن، به چهارمین جشن سینمای ایران در سال ۱۳۷۹ بازمیگردد.
